WEIRD KULT
February 14 2024

"Lupercalia? What is that?" might be the thoughts running through your head right now, unless you're familiar with The Satanic Temple's Satanic Holiday List. As they describe it, February 15th is Lupercalia: a day for celebration of bodily autonomy, sexual liberation, and reproduction, and a Hail Yourself day.

You can read an historical article about the ancient pagan festival here.

Taking care of yourself is very, very important. As you may be aware of, you cannot take care of others if you're a mess yourself. Taking a day off to take care of yourself can help you improve your mental health.

Hail yourself, Happy Lupercalia

Here's a few ideas for some self care:

1.  Spend 20 minutes clearing clutter

Okay, this might not sound very nice, but remember that feeling after cleaning; it's just amazing! Try taking a photo of a messy area, set a timer for 20 minutes, start clearing the area for those 20 minutes, and when the alarm rings compare the picture with what you've cleared. This will give you a higher chance of feeling like you've accomplished something.

2. Write a yay-list

Before going to bed, try writing at least one thing that made you say yay! during that day. This could turn into a routine helping you focusing on some nice stuff.

3. Unfollow people that bring you down

This may seem like a small and silly task, but following and constantly interacting with people that only bring you sadness or make you feel small is really bad for your health. You're better than that! Cut those toxic people and you'll soon be wondering why you kept up with so much shit for such a long time...

4. Bring that barista home

When at home all the time, it's important to spice things up a bit. Try YouTubing some nice recipes for some pro coffee or cocoa and show off your inner barista.
Hell, even though your coffee is usually as black as your soul, it's okay to glitter things up sometimes; try typing Halloween in front of the recipes and watch the magic.

5. Hail yourself!

Make sure to take some time to be good to yourself. You can do a ritual where you light some candles, put up some pictures of what you identify with, that be your favourite band, comic character or simply just pictures of yourself. Put on your favourite music, your favourite movie or play your favourite game; just make sure to do whatever make you happy and whatever make you feel that self love.

You know, you need to charge yourself with love before you can love others. It's just like the oxygen mask on the plane.

Either way, we just really hope you're doing all right, and please do take care of yourself - and stay weird!
